Cloves are the small flowering buds which are one of the main spice ingredients. These are bud-type flowers that are dried to form black buds, which are then used as cloves. Cloves are commonly used in Asian, African, and Middle Eastern cuisines to make curries, gravies, and marinades. Cloves are used uncooked in the preparation of Biryanis, Fried rice, and other dishes. Cloves and their derivatives are often used to repel insects and ants. Clove oil is also utilised in cosmetics and in the treatment of a variety of ailments. Because of its therapeutic effects, clove extract is frequently used in herbal teas and green teas.
